Poem on Grant Wood

Americas Best Painter

Grant wood was born and raised in the midwest
He was like Da'Vinci to America becuase he was our best

At 14 he won a national award

From then on he knew painting was what he should work toward

So he went to college to better his art

But America was like Antartica, it wasn't on any art critic's chart

So he decided to go to France

He went several times until his art skills became advanced

He was a special artist using his skill for good

During the depression he started organizations to help artist make money because no one else would

He also used his skill to help America in World War I

He made camouflage suits that could be seen by none

His first big project was a stained glass window

Boy did that window glow

but American Gothic was his most famous piece

It was the American Mona Lisa

What makes him the best American Painter

Is that he was a creator

He created regionalism to show his roots

It shunned big city life and depicted that we all need to dirty our boots.
